THE GARDEN OF LARGE SCALE MINIATURES



Discover the large scale miniatures in the garden of the museum.



In the yard the visitor can see the monastery of Virgin Mary Hozoviotisa of Amorgos, the virgin Mary of Tinos, the torpedo boat "ELLI", the famous light house of Andros, the Venetian Castrle of Parikia which was built in 1260 on the remains of the ncient temple of the goddess Dimitra. Also it's worth seeing the first coffee house of Paros, the traditional wind mill at height 3 meters above the ground, which is able to grid 10 kilos of wheat per hour, the traditional work place of the blacksmith, equipped with all the tools, the dovecote of Tinos, the famous ancient theater of Milos, the temple of Panagia Ekatontapiliani, the famous mashroom of Kimolos...

ISLAND MILOS



The Ancient Theater of Milos is one of the most important archaelogical finds on the island. It is located in the area of Tripiti and its construction dates back to the Hellenistic Era (3rd century BC). The hoe brought to the surface 7 rows of marble stands as well as the stage.

The miniature, Is made by Benetos, with special marble of Paros. Size 3m x 2.5m.

Panagia Ekatontapiliani. (literally the church with 100 doors) or Panagia Katapoliani is a historic Byzantine church complex in Parikia town, on the island of Paros in Greece. The church dates to 326. Its oldest features likely predate the adoption of Christianity as the state religion of the Roman Empire in 391. Was purportedly founded by the mother of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great (ruled 306-337), Saint Helen, during her pilgrimage to the Holy Land when she stopped to worship at a chapel on the island. Later Justinian is credited for initiating construction on the site as well. The Ekatontapyliani is a renowned Marian Pilgrimage church of the Aegean, second only to the famed Megalochare church on nearby Tinos island. Miniature size, 3m x 3m.

The Monastery of Hozoviotissa in Amorgos is the second oldest in Greece built in 1017 and renovated 1088, built by Alexius Comnenus I. Ti is literally handging on the cliff side 300m above the sea. The monastery was created as an ode to the Grace of Panagia, known as the Virgin Mary, which is the patron saint of the island. Size of miniature, 2m x 2m.

The Tourlitis Lighthouse in Andros Town stands on an islet and illuminates the route of seamanship for more than 120 years. Is the first automatic lighthouse in Greece.

Tourlitis Lighthouse is also the only one in Europe, build on a rock, in the sea. It was constructed in 1887 and first operated on January1, 1897. It has a height of 7 meters, a focal height of 36 meters wth the luminescence of 11 nautical miles. Miniature size, 3m x 2.5m
